Carrot Top Records has been rooted in Chicago since 1992; debuting with the release of The Coctails’ first album on CD, The Early Hi-ball Years. Over the last two decades, the label has been sporadically releasing music from a small number of bands, in a variety of genres. Along with The Coctails, Carrot Top has also put out releases from artists such as The Handsome Family, Retsin, Archer Prewitt, The Naysayer, Megan Reilly, Tall Dwarfs, Antietam, KatJonBand, The Darling Downs, The Bitter Tears and Speck Mountain. With no criteria for choosing the bands besides both liking the artists and the music, each new release is distinct.
